There was an expected and an unexpected element in the audio release function of the film "Ugadi' directed by Sai Prakash. The film which is a remake of Telugu Hit "Ugadi' has Crazy Star Ravichandran in the lead, but the altercation between the star and the producers of the film is not something which is under wraps. Lot of water has flown in the Cauvery basin ever since the infamous Ooty incident when Ravichandran was humiliated by Praveen Kumar, one of the producers of the film. The expectations that Ravichandran would not make it to the audio release function turned out to be a reality, but there was a surprise bonus in the form of the presence of Telugu star Shrikaanth. Shrikaanth plays an important role in the film which he had done in the original Telugu film.

The audio and CD were released by Super Star Dr. Vishnuvardhan, while Sandesh Nagaraj, President of the Kannada film producers association was the chief guest of the function. R.P.Patnayak the music director of the film was also present.

The producers claimed that two popular songs of the original for which Patnaayak was the music director have been retained and new song compositions have been made for the Kannada film. The songs of the film have been shot in Switzerland, producer Ganesh said.

Director Sai Prakash said that the film has shaped up very well. Jennifer and Kaamna Jethmalaani have acted in the leading roles.

Shrikaanth said that though he was born and educated in Karnataka and belonged to Gangavathi of Karnataka; it was for the first time that he had acted in a Kannada film. "I did a cameo in the original Telugu film and I was requested by Ravichandran and director Sai Prakash to do the same role in Kannada film. I felt so happy to do a very good role in my first Kannada film. I will certainly take up some good offers in Kannada film in the future' said Shrikaanth.
