Top 5 Kannada Music Albums
Oct 2, 2004 IANS Oct 2He has made it because of his uncanny ability to adapt his tunes to the different stars of Kannada cinema.
1) "Aaptha Mithra": The film's increasing popularity has had its ripple effect on the sales of audiocassettes also. The music by Guru Kiran has contributed to the film's huge box-office success. This is the first time he has composed music for Vishnuvardhan.
The talented music director has been successful in his first attempts with top stars. The remixed "Kalavannu Tadeyoru", "Pata Pata" and "Raa Raa" have all become chartbusters.
2) "Onkaara": The audio had seen huge sales even before the film's release. This was mainly because of the Upendra-Guru Kiran combination. Music enthusiasts have always reacted positively to films like "Upendra" and "Kutumba", which had the same combination.
The interest in the audio has waned slightly with the film's popularity. But songs like "Oththla Oththla" have become popular. Upendra's lyrics for a few songs have been appreciated.
3) "Sahukara": Released in the last week of September, the remake of Tamil hit "Muththu" boasts of top stars like Ravichandran and Vishnuvardhan.
The audio, released a few months ago, however, is only picking up now. The tunes have been lifted from the original. But since the film suffers in quality, the audio may not become a hit. "Thillaana Thillaana", "Thunta Thunta", and "Yaaro Yaaro" are fairly popular songs.
4) "Monalisa": The audio was popular even before the film's release. "Monalisa" completed 125 days of its run and has had a good run in district centres. The box-office success has contributed in big measure to the audio sales. Valisha Sandeep's music has proved eminently saleable.
5) "Kanti": Guru Kiran has made some good compositions for the film. The popularity of "Baanalli Baa Chandira" and "Jila Jilane" has contributed to the fairly good audio sales. The film, starring Murali and Ramya, has attracted younger music enthusiasts.
