Bangalore, Jan 22 (IANS): "Rishi" is the second film directed by young director Prakash, who debuted in 2003 with the hugely successful "Kushi".

It has been made with two heroes. Shivaraj Kumar plays a mature role and the much younger Vijaya Raghavendra a rebellious one.

Mumbai-based model Sindhu Tholani, seen before in Tamil film "Sullan", is paired with Shivaraj. Radhika, who has already acted in three films with Vijaya, is playing opposite him again.

Prakash is the cousin of both Shivaraj and Vijaya and has returned to Kannada cinema after a brief tenure in Britain as a software engineer.

"As a young boy, I have seen Shivanna (as close associates and relatives call Shivaraj) playing the hero's role. He has carved out a star status in the Kannada film industry through hard work and dedication. After doing 'Kushi', I developed a story that needed Shivanna in the main role. I approached him."

Prakash adds: "Before narrating the story, I had the feeling I would have to convince a big star. But as soon as I saw Shivanna taking keen interest in my project and giving perfect reactions to my narration, I just forgot that I am telling the story to a star. Shivanna eased my tensions."

Prakash recalls that he worked with Vijaya in "Kushi" and that he had "an even better understanding with him".

Of Prakash, Shivaraj says: "I find that he is very methodical in his work and looks for even small details. On the sets, I always considered him a confident director and not my younger cousin who grew up before my eyes."

Vijaya, who did not have a single hit after "Kushi", has not been accepting any new Kannada offer till the completion of "Rishi".

Sindhu says she plays a bubbly character. Radhika feels this film has provided her an opportunity to play a glamorous role in contrast with her earlier weepy roles.
