'Sirivantha' secures top spot among Kannada films
Oct 22, 2006 R.G. VijayasarathyThe top five Kannada films are:
1. "Sirivantha": The film did not have a great opening, but has steadily improved its collections and is now on top of this list. The Vishnuvardhan-starrer is proving to be a big hit with the female audience.
2. "Aishwarya": The film is still on top in the city centres, while it is not doing so well in the B and C centres. The collections have exceeded Rs.10 million in the Bangalore distribution area. Deepika's glamour and Upendra's performance are the film's main attractions.
3. "Jothe Jotheyalli": The film has become a surprise hit in Bangalore and Mysore. The collections continue to be good even in the fourth week of the film that features Prem and Ramya.
4. "Sevanthi Sevanthi": The film has completed a silver-jubilee run, and has now shifted to the B and C centres where it is attracting crowds. It is a winner all the way. Yet another hit for Ramya, the film has given a new lease of life to Vijaya Raghavendra.
5. "Ravi Shastry": This film is a remake of K. Bhagyaraj's "Idhu Namma Aalu", released over a decade ago. Despite boasting of a big star cast, including Ravichandran and Sneha, the film has not done well enough.
