Rekha changes her name for Telugu films
Oct 1, 2007 RGVRekha was toast of Telugu film producers even three years ago after her first Telugu film Anandam became a sensational hit. Rekha had just then worked in Kannada film Chitram which became a hit. The Kannada film was produced by Usha Kiron Movies of Ramoji Rao. The same production company selected her as a heroine in Anandam. Post Anandam period, Rekha became quite busy in the Telugu film industry. But she could not sustain her position in the top either in Telugu or later in the Tamil film industry where she was chosen for a few films. She came back to Kannada films to act in Chellaata after which she has been busy. Her next film Gunavantha in which she is paired with Prem is about to be released. She has recently signed Ramesh Arvind's new film Accident, the shooting of which is now under progress.
Citing reasons for changing her name for Telugu films, Rekha says that the Telugu TV Channel had wrongly reported that she had died of a road accident. "After this report many of my well wishers and friends in the Telugu film industry advised me to start off a new phase in the industry with a new name. I have changed my name accordingly. But I will remain as Rekha for the Kannada film industry" says Rekha.
Ninna Nedu Repu is the title of the Telugu version of this bilingual film made in Telugu and Tamil. The film is being made by SPR Entertainments India Private Limited banner that are now making Ganesh-Daisy Bopanna starrer Kannada film Galipata directed by Yogaraj Bhat. Lakshmi Kanth Chenna is the director of this Telugu film.
