The recent turn of events in the Kannada film industry has led to a welcome development where the more or less defunct Kannada film artists association may get a new President. Actor and Member of Parliament Ambareesh who is at present the president of the Kannada film artists association may well make way for Ravichandran who seems to have acquired lot of support from many artists.

The Kannada film artists and directors had an emergency meeting a few days ago Saturday night at Chancery Hotel where discussions were held about the need of change of guard in the artists association. The meeting was originally intended to discuss the pre production activities of the Rs. 9 crore estimated multi-star cast film that has to be produced by Moser Bear Company under the supervision of Crazy Star Ravichandran. All the Kannada film artists will be acting free in this project as Rs. 50 lacs will be given to the Kannada film artists association for purchase of a building for the office.

The meeting held last Saturday was attended by a large number of film artists though a few artists could not attend because of the shooting commitments. It was decided that another meeting to be held on March 25 at Uppi resorts to decide about the future course of action. The Saturday meeting was significant in the sense that many artists had felt to strengthen the film artists association. Actor and Member of Parliament Ambareesh who is at present the President of the Cine artists association came little late to the function and announced that elections to the artists association to be held on April 8. The consensus may be that Crazy Star Ravichandran may be unanimously elected as the President of the Kannada film artists association.
