'Krishna' leads Kannada film race
Oct 17, 2007 R.G. VijayasarathyThe top five Kannada films are:
1. "Krishna" - For the past 10 months, the top slot has been reserved for Ganesh starrers only. And this film, which was released a week ago, is also doing fantastic business all over Karnataka. The collection was about Rs.9 million in its first week in Bangalore, Kolar and Tumkur.
2. "Milana" - The Puneet Raj Kumar-starrer is slowly but surely making inroads into the super-hit territory. The film is an important break for director Prakash.
3. "Cheluvina Chiththara" - The film, which is heading towards its silver jubilee, is doing well, particularly in the Hubli area.
4. "Mungaru Male" - After completing 300 days in the main theatres, the film has been shifted to smaller cinema halls. It was one of the biggest blockbusters and is still running well in the interior areas.
5. "Anaatharu" - The collections have come down now. A 40 percent entertainment tax is imposed on the Upendra-starrer because it is a remake of the Tamil film "Pithamagan". This has further affected the film's business potential.
