Bangalore, Oct 11 (IANS) The Kannada film "Tuttoori" has been selected as an entry for the International Children's Film Festival to be held in Hyderabad next month.

The film, produced by actress Jayamala and directed by award-winning director P. Seshadri, will be competing with many international films and some films produced in India in the Golden Elephant category of the Nov 14-20 festival.

The winning film will get prize money of Rs.100,000 and a gold plaque.

Seshadri said the film's being selected was in itself an achievement. "This is the first time that a children's film made in Kannada has achieved such a distinction. I think we have passed the first hurdle."

Thirty child artistes have played important roles in the film. Over 300 children have acted in the film.

Besides the child artistes, the film has talented actor Dattanna in a major role.

Three other Kannada films will be screened at the festival. The Ramadasa Naidu-directed "Pravaaha", selected for the Indian Panorama last year, will be screened in the competitive Asian Section which carries prize money of Rs.50,000.

The two other films are: Nanjunde Gowda-directed "A Aai" and "Mitaayi Mane" directed by actress Arathi.
