Bangalore, Nov 16 (IANS): The audio of "Aaptha Mithra" is nearly as popular as the film itself. Catching up with it is the album of "Kalasi Palya".

Here's a look at the top five Kannada film albums:

1) "Aaptha Mithra": While the film is nearing a 100-day run, its audiocassette still tops the charts with a high level of rural penetration. According to Ashwini Audios, which is marketing the audio, three songs have become extremely popular.

The audio sales have not been in proportion to the film's huge box office success though. The song "Raa raa sarasaku raa" is on everyone's lips. Also being hummed are "Pata pata gali pata" and "'Kana kana sharade".

2) "Kalasi Palya": This year belongs to Kannada film producer Ramu, known for his big-budget ventures. Ramu started his own audio company and has tasted big success with his newest release "Kalasi Palya". This Darshan-Rakshitha-starrer has been a big hit in the audio market too.

Even before the film's release, the sale of the film's audio was brisk. It has been showing an upward trend since the film's release four weeks ago. The song "Suntaragali, Suntaragali" has become a big hit.

3) "Jyeshta": Vishnuvardhan fans believe this album will do well because of the big success of "Aaptha Mithra" in which he had given a splendid performance.

Music director S.A. Raj Kumar, who has already made a name with two big hits like "Chandra Chakori" and "Ramakrishna", is scoring for this much-awaited film to be released in the second week of December. Raj Kumar has composed for the first time for a Vishnuvardhan film.

The audio, released three weeks ago, has already sold 50,000 units, according to Anand Audio.

4) "Mourya": The film's audio is a big disappointment to hero Puneet Raj Kumar's fans but nevertheless it is selling well because of his charisma.

Guru Kiran, who created some good tunes for Puneet's first two films, "Appu' and "Abhi", has not been able to meet the expectations of fans this time. The film's success is helping the brisk audio sales. "Pilla, pilla" and "Simple aagi helthini" have become popular songs.

5) "Nalla": Music director Venkat Narayan, who had scored for "Heartbeats", has worked for a big-budget film for the first time.

Many of the songs are melodious and "Malagu malagu gubbi mari" is particularly popular.

The songs offer variety, and the mass-oriented "Machcha dav hodeyodhu" had become popular even before the film's release. According to Ashwini Audios, sales will definitely pick up in the days to come.
