'Jothe Jotheyalli' faces no challenge from new releases
Jan 11, 2007 R.G. VijayasarathyThe top five Kannada films are:
1. "Jothe Jotheyalli" - Despite the release of many big-budget films, it is still getting a good response from the young audience.
2. "Mungaru Male" - This film has become a surprise hit, with the youth making a beeline for it. The film features Ganesh, a popular television anchor, in a pivotal role.
3. "Neelakanta" - The film is running into its fourth week, but the response has been mixed. While the film has been declared a big hit in north Karnataka, its performance has not been impressive in Bangalore and Mysore. The songs and actress Namitha are its major attractions.
4. "Sirivantha" - The film has completed 100 days in Hubli and is running well in many semi-urban centres where it has been released now. This Vishnuvardhan-starrer is a big hit, considering its production costs and huge success in north Karnataka and old Mysore. The family audience has given an encouraging response to the film.
5. "Sixer" - The film, released in the first week of 2007, has opened well much to the surprise of trade circles. Produced by Ramoji Rao, it launched a new star, Prajwal Devaraj, son of actor Devaraj.
