Kannada film star Jaggesh has rejected the state government award in the Best Actor in the supporting role category for his performance in "Mata".

Addressing the media he said that he feels the award is not an honor to him, but an insult as he was the hero of the film.

"It is not a supporting role. I have acted in supporting roles in many films, but in "Mata" I was the hero and it was publicized as my 100th film as the hero. It is like demoting me from the stature of a hero. This is unacceptable to me. Even my fans and well wishers have been against this decision of the Jury and have advised me not to accept it. I am humbly rejecting it" said Jaggesh.

Guru Prasad, the director of "Mata" was also present in the press conference and endorsed the decision of Jaggesh.

However, T.N.Seetharam, the chairman of the Jury said that the members had great appreciation for his performance in the film and had decided to give him an award. But the jury could not give him the Best actor award as Shivaraj Kumar had performed very well in "Jogi". "We selected Jaggesh with lot of respects to his stature and talents" said Seetharam.
