Gubbachchigalu: A Kannada film with a difference?

Noted television personality B.Suresha whose writing and directorial abilities in the Tele serials have won many awards had won the Best film director state award for his previous directorial venture 'Artha'. Recently Suresh's Television serial Naaku Thanthi had won the Best Tele serial award.


Now, he is busy producing another new film titled 'Gubbachchigalu' in which a young talented Poona film institute graduate Abhay Simha would be making his debut as director. The film deals with the consequences of rapid urbanization and consumerism that has taken over our culture.



B.Suresha and his wife Shylaja Nag who are now producing popular daily soaps like 'Naaku Thanthi' and 'Thakadhimitha' have given the responsibility of directing this new film to Abhay Simha who is a graduate from Film and Television Institute of India (FTII, Pune). Incidentally Dr. Vikram Srivastava who is a dentist by profession is the cinematographer of the film while Journalist N.A.M. Ismail who works in Udayavani has penned the story.



B.Suresha says that his Media House Studios want to promote good films and they would make films with a view to enhancing the quality of Kannada films. "We hope to do one film a year in the future and I may also take up directing a film in the coming years," said Suresha. "I always wanted to promote good and qualitative cinema. So, we have formed a new company called Media House Studio, through which we will be producing quality films in the future. 'Gubbachchigalu' will be our debut film, after which we will be churning out some good films continuously; atleast one film a year," he added.


Rajesh, Anu Prabhakar, Mandya Ramesh, Rangayana Raghu, Master Abhilash Kashyap, Baby Prakruthi play the lead roles in the film.


The film is slated to go on the floors from Monday.
