Girish Karnad busy with tele-serial direction
Oct 9, 2006 RGVHe is also working in Kavitha Lankesh directed "Tananam Tananam" which is a musical film.
He had earlier worked in a Telugu music oriented film "Ananada Bhairavi" directed by Jandhyala. "I primarily work for films for the money that I get. For critical satisfaction, I would rather write or direct a drama" says Girish Karnad.
Girish had earlier directed a play in English and Kannada which were hugely successful. Both the plays were premiered in "Ranga Shankara" theatre in Bangalore.
The success of his theatre production "Odakalu Bimba" (The heap of broken images) for which he returned to direction after a long gap has really given him some extra energy to take up directing a tele-serial for the Doordarshan Channel.
He continues to be in films and hardly finds some thing exceptional in films.
"I was really happy over the way Kavitha had worked on her script. And there was Bharathi Madam working with me. I had seen her charming smile as a young admirer of films and she was my favorite actress" says Girish Karnad.
