'Gauramma' reigns Kannada charts unchallenged
Jul 7, 2005 IANS Jul 61) "Gauramma": The film still holds its top place even after completing five weeks. It is earning good profits for producer Shylendra Babu. This Upendra-Ramya starrer has also proved that director Naganna has the knack of making the best of remakes. This is a remake of Telugu hit "Nuvvu Naaku Nachchav". Trade circles expect the film to complete 100 days in as many as 10 centres.
2) "Akash": The film has completed 70 days and will touch the 100-day mark soon. It is doing well in Bangalore and Mysore. Puneet Raj Kumar and Ramya have proved to be a successful combination.
3) "Shastri": Darshan's huge mass following was responsible for the film's popularity in the first two weeks, but the collections started sliding thereafter. Darshan is now miles ahead of his young competitors except Puneet and Upendra whose films run longer. The film is being released in Chennai and Mumbai in the coming weeks.
4) "Sye": The opening reception for this Sudeep-starrer has not been up to expectation. A remake of Tamil hit "Dil" starring Vikram, "Sye" had the elements of a successful commercial film, but the poor narration is holding it back. Sudeep has a big following and it is too early to write off this film in the list of failures.
5) "Aaptha Mithra": The film is just six weeks away from completing a year. It is still running in three centres. It is the biggest Kannada hit in recent times.
