B.Saroja Devi gets honorary doctorate
Dec 5, 2006 RGVA happy B.Saroja Devi said that she thought of all her fans and well wishers when she was made known that Bangalore University has decided to bestow her honorary award.
"I want to dedicate this honor from the Bangalore University to my husband Late Sri Harsha. Harsha is one of the greatest human beings I have met. He would have been happy if he were alive today. I learnt many things from him. He had a great influence on my life and life style. He looked at life positively and also had a helping nature" Saroja Devi said.
"I heard about this news of honorary doctorate when I was attending a wedding in Chennai. I did not believe it then and asked myself what I have done to be bestowed with such an honor. But it was confirmed later and I am happy to be in the company of such talented artists like Dr.Raj Kumar and Vishnuvardhan" said Saroja Devi.
"I made a humble beginning in Bangalore and it was my mother who nurtured my talents. Then with the grace of god I was able to climb the ladder to become one of the top actors of South. I was able to act in a few Hindi films also. But I can never forget my roots and I always carry great regards for the Kannada film industry" said the Veteran actress who was introduced by Late Honnappa Bhagavathar in "Mahakavi Kalidasa" as the heroine.
Later Saroja Devi went to the Tamil film industry where she was teamed up with legendary artists like Late MGR, Shivaji Ganeshan and Gemini Ganeshan. She continued to act in many films and is now busy spending her days in Bangalore by involving herself in charity work. She is working in films only if the role appeals to her.
