While a Hindi film 'Hatrick' was released recently to cash in on the world cup fever, one enterprising Kannada film production unit Visthaara has decided to announce the launch of a film to be made on the game of Kabbaddi, which is the most popular sport in the state of Karnataka. The film will be produced by Prabha Shivalingaiah, Manjula and Asha in the banner of Visthaara and Khandaaya. Narendra Babu is the director of the film. Kishor who has won the Best Villain award from state government is the person who will be overseeing the project.

In the rural areas and some towns of Karnataka, the state level and national level Kabbaddi games attract huge crowds.. Karnataka has its share of some talented Kabbaddi players who have donned national colors and have brought glory to the game.

'We have three big stas in the film. They are the real stars who can pull lot of people to the theatres. The game of 'Kabbaddi' itself is a big star for the film. The film's Music director Hamsalekha and the cameraman Krishna whose work in 'Mungaru Male' is being highly spoken about are the two other stars who will guide the entire team' says Kishor who plays the role of the Coach in the film.

Kishor said that despite the spread of globalization and other westernized influences, the game of Kabbaddi has not lost the charm and we want the film to drive home this point. Our intention is to promote rural sports, culture and the milieu through interestingly made films. It is a commercial film and will have all commercial elements in it' says Kishor.

Director Nanda Kishor adds that the regular shooting of the film will be starting in Mandya in the second week of April. 'The film will have new faces in leading roles and only a few artists like Kishor can be recognized in the film. Praveen who has been trained in theatre will play the lead. But we are sure that 'Kabbaddi' will make many stars of future. My script will contain all commercial ingredients including songs, thrilling sequences and even a bit of sentiment. The film will not only focus on the strengths of Kabbaddi, but also showcases as to how this game is important in today's society' says Nandakumar. .
