Bangalore, Dec 2 (IANS): "Aaptha Mithra", late Soundarya's last Kannada film, that is smashing collection records, tops the Kannada films chart. "Kalasi Palya is a close second for this fortnight.

The following are the top five Kananada films:

1. "Aaptha Mithra": The film will complete a 100-day run Dec 4 in more than 20 theatres in Karnataka. It has created box-office records in Bangalore and Mysore. In Mysore, it is setting an all-time record by completing a hundred days' run in three theatres, which had not been possible even for hugely successful films like "Yajamana", "Janumada Jodi" and "Shankar Guru". Even in centres like Davanagere, Shimoga and Hubli, collections have been fantastic.

2. "Kalasipalya": The film did enjoy the benefit of Vijayadhashami and Diwali holidays. But even otherwise the film's collections have been outstanding. Producers Ramu Enterprises have benefited doubly as they have released their film on their own. It is doing well even in B and C centres. Darshan's stock has certainly gone up.

3. "Mourya": The collections, highly encouraging initially, have been sliding. Though the film had collected over Rs.10 million in the first three weeks in Bangalore, the hope of its creating a new box-office record has been diminished because of a fall in the collections in later weeks. However, for the film's hero Puneet Raj Kumar, it is certainly a hit. Meera Jasmine, the heroine, has also made a mark. The film is a remake of the Telugu hit "Amma Naanna Oka Thamil Ammaayi".

4. "Nalla": The film opened well and did collect more than Rs.350,000 in the first week in Bangalore. But collections in the Mysore-Shimoga distribution area have not been encouraging. The film still continues to hold well in Bangalore, the north Karnataka region and Chitradurga and Davanagere centres. For the film's hero Sudeep, it is certainly a satisfying film.

5. "Santhosha": The film is not a hit, but it did get some good critical reviews in the media. Directed by debutant Ramesh, an alumnus of Chennai Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu. It introduced new stars like Sidhaarth. Malayalam film actress Pranathi, who made waves through her first film "4 the People", has failed to create the same magic in her first Kannada film. Sadhu Kokila's comedy sequences are the film's forte.
