'Aaptha' audio stays unchallenged
Dec 16, 2004 IANS Dec 16Here are the top five Kannada albums:
1) "Aaptha Mithra": The audio stays at the top. According to the Ashwini Audio Company, which has released the audio, daily sales are in the range of 2,000 to 3,000 cassettes. Three songs of the film ("Raa raa", "Pata pata" and "Kana kanavu") are the most popular.
2) "Kalasipalya": Action hero Darshan's films were not known for big audio sales, but it seems his recently released film "Kalasipalya" has changed all that. It has become the year's most surprising audio hit. The producers of the film have marketed the audio on their own and have reaped big benefits. The most popular song is "Suntara gaali", for which the tune has been lifted from "Manmatha Raja" of Tamil hit "Thiruda Thirudi".
3) "Chappaale": This is the latest film from M.N. Suresh, producer of last year's big musical hit "Excuse Me" which ran for more than 250 days and created record audio sales. "Chappaale" has music by R.P. Patnayak who also scored for "Excuse Me". The audio is selling at a brisk pace. The title number and a song on mobile phones have become popular.
4) "Jyeshta": The film will be released only on Dec 17, but the audio is selling well. Vishnuvardhan's films have always had good pre-release audio sales, but "Jyeshta" is doing even better. The reason may be the runaway success of Vishnu's recent "Aaptha Mithra". It is the first time that S.A. Raj Kumar has scored music for a Vishnu film. The tune for "Oh Kanchana" has been lifted from the recently successful Telugu film "Vasantham". "Ninnegala nenapugale" and "Mannigu manujanigoo" have become top songs.
5) "Nalla": The film is into in its fifth week. Though the score is by a relatively new music director, Venkat Narayan, audio sales are increasing after the film's release. Two songs, "Malage malage gubbimari" and "Machcha dav hodeyodhu", are particularly popular.
