10-year-old directing Jackie Shroff film
Feb 15, 2006 R.G. Vijayasarathy"He is the first director to call me 'Uncle'!" says Jackie Shroff who is playing an important role in the film.
"I didn't believe my ears when Kishen phoned me and requested me to do this role," adds Jackie. "At his age, we were playing in the street. And he is trying to make a film on a subject like education of slum kids."
Jackie is all praise for the child prodigy, and cites an example of Kishen's directorial skill.
"In one of the scenes, I had to sign a file. I just took a file and signed. Kishen said I must be seen as reading the file and then signing it. I was amazed by his intelligence."
Jackie follows two other Bollywood stars into Kannada cinema.
Amitabh Bachchan made a brief appearance in "Amrutha Dhaare" directed by Nagathihalli and model-cum-actor Dino Morea has just finished working in Purnima Mohan's "Julie".
Bollywood 'baddies' Asish Vidyarthi, Asutosh Rana and Sayaji Shinde have been working in Kannada films for quite sometime.
None but Jackie, however, figures in a Kannada film bound to make history for a minor directing it.
