London, Sep 2 (IANS) "The Dark Knight", starring Christian Bale and the late Australian actor Heath Ledger, has crossed the $500 million mark in just six weeks.

The movie's accomplishment is even more impressive considering that it grossed half billion in just half the time it took the mega-hit "Titanic", reports thesun.co.uk.

The "Batman" sequel is only the second film in history after James Cameron's "Titanic" to top the half-billion-dollar mark. The Leonardo Dicaprio starrer made $601 million. Reports suggest "The Dark Knight" could still earn more than 50 million pounds (nearly $90 million).

Commenting upon the film's record breaking profits, Bale said: "It's wonderful! But I'm not a business man. I just enjoy doing what I do and whatever happens after that is gravy."
