Haynes pays tribute to Ledger at awards function
Feb 24, 2008Haynes, who worked with Ledger in "I'm Not There", said: "We all loved him so dearly. He really was unlike anybody I've ever known, he was more of a creative partner than an actor."
Haynes, who was picking up the first Robert Altman Award for director and ensemble cast, also hailed Ledger as a director of "diverse music videos". He also revealed that the actor was about to make his film directorial debut before he died in January, contactmusic.com reports.
He added: "He had just started circulating a feature script that he was planning to direct - an adaptation of 'The Queen's Gambit' by Walter Tevis.
"I have no doubt he would have made an astounding director. I treasure the time we shared on this film ('I'm Not There') and the love and talent that he gave so freely."
