Delayed 'Valkyrie' release gets tongues wagging

London, April 9 (IANS) MGM and United Artists have delayed the release of their upcoming Tom Cruise starrer "Valkyrie" until next February, a decision that has raised a lot of speculation.

According to contactmusic.com, the movie was scheduled for a June 27 release, than was moved to October to make it eligible for the Oscar nominations. Now it will be released Feb 13, 2009.

The move was aimed to give an advantage to Cruise who has already been nominated three times.

Rumours swarming around the movie included Cruise's German accent being atrociously bad. He plays the instigator of a plot by a few renegade German generals wanting to assassinate Hitler.

Commenting upon the delay in release, Clark Woods, MGM's distribution chief, said: "Having seen a lot of the film and how great it is going to play once it's finished, moving into a big holiday weekend is the right move."

Observers claim the delay gives the studio time to re-shoot Cruise's scenes and gives him time to work with a dialect coach and improve his accent.
