Boyle credits 'Slumdog Millionaire' success for '127 Hours'
Jan 10, 2011 IANSThe director, who had decided to bring mountaineer Aron Ralston's story on the big screen in 2006, said the "power" he got from the stupendous success of the film helped him convince Ralston to lend his story. "Slumdog..." even helped him get finance for the project.
Ralston was keen to make a documentary, in which he would appear himself, but Boyle was adamant this will work only if a proper actor brings forth the story.
"I told Aron that if we employed him as the actor, it would be terrible. No one would have believed it. My point was we would achieve so much more with a proper actor," Boyle said in a statement.
And after Ralston saw the movie, he realised that Boyle had made the correct decision.
