We are not censor board: air force chief
Jan 17, 2006 IANSAamir's new movie has created a controversy as some IAF officials objected to certain scenes that they said depicted the armed forces and politicians in bad light.
Talking to the media on the sidelines of a commanders' conference here, Air Chief Marshal S.P. Tyagi said: "We are not the censor board. There is a system in place. If somebody asks for my opinion, I will give my opinion.
"I told him (the director Rakeysh Mehra) that I didn't like it (the film). It was a suggestion. It is up to him to consider it. But I will not (ask him) to remove any scene from the film."
The film created a stir in IAF circles as it shows one of its characters, a pilot, dying in a MiG-21 crash. Tyagi, however, said his force had "no role to play in censorship".
