The concept of the story of UNNS was natural : Bhupendra Gupta

UNNS is the first film of Bhupinder Gupta as a director and scriptwriter. This Movie is produced under the banner of “Buneesha Films” with Rituparna Sengupta, Sanjay Kapoor, Sundanshu Pandey, Juhi Babbar and Aman Verma as the star cast of the movie. Recently director and writer Bhupendra Gupta talked about his experiences during the music release of the film “UNNS” at JAM Multiplex, Shipra Mall.

What kind of issue is dealt in your movie “UNNS”?

The word “UNNS” means love. The movie dwells with the sanctity of marriage. Apart from being Highly Entertaining, romantic Emotional and Musical Melodrama the movie carries a social message about the significance of marriage in one's life.

What has inspired you to make a Movie like “UNNS”?

The concept of the story of UNNS was natural and the thought of it came from heart. The story is based on extra marital affair and relationship of the married couples. The importance’s of married life in the present generation seems to be fading away. I wanted to highlight the importance of spouse in one’s life. This is how I generated the concept of UNNS.

What do you mean by the word UNNS?

Unns is an Arabic Word Which means Love, Mohabaat…. We wanted to keep a title, which was unique in nature, and arouse a sense of curiosity amongst the public. When we were deciding over the title of the film, the word “UNNS” was proposed by our Music Director Shaheen Iqbal. It is generally said such kind of title is kept by Gulzar Saheb so we thought to move ahead with the title “UNNS”.

Did you ever wanted to become a writer?

You can say that I am a born writer. I have always written articles during my school days and in colleges but was more influenced by direction field so I thought to direct my own written script.

From where did you learn the art of direction? Did you take some training or assisted someone before?

No I have not done any training for the direction as such. I feel that for being a good director you need to have the concept and the imagination power of the story, which a writer possesses very well. God has gifted me a good imagination power so I thought of moving ahead with this field. Moreover I would like to clearly mention that the whole unit of “UNNS” has helped me out to come out to my best of caliber.

What standard were set to select the Stars for the movie?

We wanted to present this movie with best artist within our budget. This was our main criterion. Sanjay Kapoor plays a role of a guy whose parents have separated and so he knows the importance of married life in one’s life with his own experiences. The character of Sanjay is different in this film as compared to his other movies. No doubt he has come out with flying colors in this movie. Rituparna Sengupta has already made National Award in her credit and I have seen her performance in her first film of Bollywood. I always felt that the character of “RIYA” is best suited for her. She plays a role of a girl who finds it difficult to forget her first love even after her marriage and finally wants to end up her married life. This is how we selected all the artists keeping in mind the characters in the film.

Have any sort of entertainment masala has been added in your Movie?

For this we have taken Vivek Shauq, who plays a multiple role of a Bengali, Gujrati and Maharastrian guy and I am sure the audience will like him.

Now a day’s music plays an integral part in the success of a movie. What do you want to say about music of your film?

I feel that the audience will like the music of the film since it contains all the song, which moves with the theme of the film. We presently have 6 songs in which I feel one song from the film will be removed, as we are not very much satisfied with it.
