'Tahaan' sweeps top awards at foreign film fest
Dec 7, 2008 IANS"My film was adjudged the best feature film. It also bagged best UNICEF film award and the International Cinema Federation for Children & Young People (CIFEJ) jury award. What should be noted is that the juries for the three awards were different people," Sivan told IANS in an email interview.
Set in the present day Kashmir, "Tahaan" is about a family living in the valley amid cross-border terrorism. The film is also about good and evil and unlikely friendships.
Child actor Purav Bhandare plays the main lead in the film and the foreign audiences loved his performance. It also has Rahul Bose, Rahul Khanna, Victor Banerjee and Sarika in the cast.
"I'm really pleased, because the audience adored Purav and couldn't believe that this was his first film," Sivan said.
The festival that concluded Saturday is unique in Greece. It is a member of the CIFEJ and the European Cinema Federation for Children and Young People.
Earlier "Tahaan" travelled to Pusan as well as the London film festivals and wowed the audience there too.
