Kuala Lumpur, Aug 23 (IANS) Bollywood entertainer "Sing Is Kinng" is a "fun movie" where Akshay Kumar is surely the "king", says a noted Indian origin Malaysian film critic.

The film, though it has no sensitive elements, "at times reminds you of 'Munnabai MBBS' in which a hood (Sanjay Dutt) starts doing good things", critic K.N. Vijayan wrote in the New Straits Times.

He pointed out how protests held in India against the "improper" use of the turban in the film were unnecessary.

"India must be among the few countries where frequent demonstrations are held over what is shown or not shown in movies. I suppose this shows how influential cinema is on the populace," Vijayan said.

He added that Akshay is the "king" of the movie where he plays Happy Singh, a honest, but bungling villager and wherever he goes, disaster follows. Soon the villagers send him to Australia to bring back a villager-turned-gangster called Lucky Singh (Sonu Sood) and they hope Happy will stay away for good.

The movie follows Happy to Egypt and Australia where he gets into problematic but hilarious situations and also meets the love of his life Sonia (Katrina Kaif).

According to Vijayan, Katrina "has never looked this good on the screen. Her infectious smile, especially in the scenes taken in Egypt, will make you fall in love with her".

There are some illogical twists and turns in the story but essentially this movie is aimed at tickling your funny bone.

Malaysia has a good market for Indian films as its 28 million population comprises eight percent Indians.
