No actor likes being typecast: Shreyas Talpade

Nov 11, 2006 Swati R. Chaudhary

Mumbai, Nov 12 (IANS) Actor Shreyas Talpade believes in reinventing himself and detests being stuck in a particular image. That probably explains his new, stylish avatar in the latest release, "Apna Sapna Money Money".

In this fun film, he plays Arjun Fernandes, a guy who has a garage and is very attached to his colony friends. He is paired opposite Riya Sen in the film, reports Bollywood Trade News Network.

"I think, as actors we want to experiment various characters. No actor likes being typecast. 'Iqbal' was a serious, challenging role while 'Dor' had a dash of comedy," explains Shreyas.

He plays a psychiatrist while Tusshar Kapoor plays a jilted lover in Ananth Mahadevan's "Agar". He would not have to go far for any research on that role as his wife Deepti happens to be a clinical psychologist.

"I keep asking her for tips to prepare for the role," he says in a lighter vein.

"I play a psychiatrist who cures Tusshar Kapoor in the film. As a doctor, I've always been there for my people and so they look up to me. The character has an element of sophistication and style. My body language in 'Agar' is very different from the rest of my films," reveals Shreyas.

He is no more doing Krishnakant Pandya's "Main Phir Aaonga", the film that deals with euthanasia.

As for Prakash Jha's "Love Story" where he's paired opposite Miss India Nikita Anand, he says, "I play an intense Brahmin boy studying in DelhiUniversity. It's about the lives of five people from diverse backgrounds and their interpretations of love."

Prod him about losing out on Ahmed's role in Ram Gopal Varma's remake of "Sholay" and he says candidly: "I have no regrets. Honestly I never declined it. It was some kind of a misunderstanding. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to working with Ram Gopal Varma. He is a fantastic director."

Talpade is oblivious regarding the status of his forthcoming films "The Hangman", "Pirate" and "The Making of a Painter".
