Newcomer Adhvik not unhappy with 'Contract' ad campaign

Mumbai, July 11 (IANS) After the unsuccessful launch of Mohit Ahlawat in "James" and Randeep Hooda in "D", director Ram Gopal Varma is not taking any chance with Adhvik Mahajan whom he is launching in "Contract". That is the reason debutant actor is not seen in any publicity campaign.

Adhvik says he is not unhappy with the director's decision. "I have nothing to lose, so I am not tense. Whatever I get from the movie will be a bonus for me," Adhvik told IANS.

He says that the publicity plan was chalked out on a mutual understanding.

"I don't want to become like any other actor who is launched in a big way. There are 15 or 16 actors. That is why we planned the promotion in a unique way - we didn't promote any actor, but the film as a whole."

The success of the film is of utmost importance for Adhvik. "Rest comes later. If the film is successful then only we are here."

Talking about his mentor, he said: "He is an humble and down-to-earth person who even took my suggestion whenever he felt it good. For that matter, he even takes the suggestion of his spot boys seriously."

The film has some never-seen-before action sequences and Varma has given these scenes a completely new treatment compared to his earlier movies.

Adhvik plays the character of a lower middle class man who is forced into a different world. "It is the story of a right man in a wrong place and time."

The 23-year-old actor from Punjab says he had to put some extra pounds to look the character.

"It was my decision to put on the extra weight because I was playing a character who is about 30 years old. Ramuji never asked me to do that, it was my decision as I thought it will make my character more realistic."

Adhvik dreamt of becoming an actor from an early age and has been training himself for more than 10 years. He started his acting stint in theatre in Delhi. He moved to Mumbai a year ago with the sole aim to be an actor.

"I came to Mumbai and went to various production houses seeking a role. Finally I got a call from Ramuji's office."

Adhvik, who also did three months training with Barry John's acting institute, said: "I went through the audition process. Within a time span of two-three months, I gave look tests, did photo shoots and all other things and was finally selected for the role."
