Modelling was never for me: Anil Kapoor
Jul 24, 2010 IANS'I started my career with modelling. The first time I walked the ramp was for Dhirubhai Ambani for Vimal fabrics. That was the first time and that too 32 years ago. It was at that point that I realised I am not cut out for modelling,' Anil told IANS before the spectacular, star-studded show.
That was also the turning point in Anil's life.
'It was then that it dawned upon me that I should become an actor,' said the 50-year-old.
Anil was in the capital with his younger daughter Rhea, who has produced 'Aisha', releasing Aug 6.
His elder daughter Sonam plays title role in 'Aisha', about an uber chic girl obsessed with matchmaking. Inspired by Jane Austen's novel 'Emma', the film highlights Aisha's relationship with her friends.
The film has been in the news for the high-end wardrobes of the actors, so Anil decided to promote his daughter's project at the couture week here.
He took to the ramp in chic Anamika Khanna ensembles with Ira Dubey, Amrita Puri and model Lisa Haydon who are making their debuts with the movie.
For the seasoned actor, walking with the newcomers was an affirmation that 'Aisha' stands not just on Sonam, but on its ensemble cast.
'We are missing Sonam. But I always believe that the show must go on. These girls are equally important for the film. This film is an ensemble and all three of them are being introduced in the film. This is a good platform for them,' he said.
Sonam gave the show a miss as she is busy shooting for Pankaj Kapoor's 'Mausam' in Scotland. But Rhea chose to cheer for her father and her three actresses from the front row.
The three newcomers were extremely excited about being on the same stage as Anil, but Ira and Amrita were both worried about handling their respective dresses. Click the Movie button below for more info:
