GOW a befitting reply to Murari Kumar's critics

Mumbai, Aug 14 (IANS) After doing small roles, actor Murari Kumar finally got his due with his performance as Guddu in "Gangs of Wasseypur". He wants to dedicate the film to all those who made fun of his dream to become an actor.

He says after doing "Gangs of..." people have started recognising him and "people have been calling me to tell they liked my work in the film. This is a proud moment for me".

Hailing from Lakhanpur, a small village in Bihar, he is finally living his dream of becoming an actor in the Maximum City.

He has done small roles in films like, "Ek Hasina Thi", "Gulaal" and "Black Friday", but he never got recognition from them.

"In 'Ek Hasina...', I had a small role but it was a big thing for me. My father, who was very excited, got a VCR back home in my village. But since my scene was hardly 30-40 seconds, everyone laughed after watching it," Murari told IANS.

"They told my parents to call me back home and make me work in the village. But after getting appreciation in GOW, I want them to see it. Maybe their reaction will be different now," he added.

Having been a part of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap's team for almost 12 years now, Murari says it's a privilege for any actor to work with the director.

With a dream as a child of becoming an actor, Murari ran away from his village and reached Delhi. He shifted here in 1996.

Coming from an humble farmer's family, the actor has three films lined up, all produced by Kashyap. One of them is "Peddlers", that took him to Cannes and the other two are short films.

Murari wants to stick to action films. He feels he is "not cut out for sappy, romantic films which require tall and fair people". Click the Movie button below for more info:
