Govinda teams up with Tusshar, Fardeen
Apr 5, 2009 Joginder Tuteja"People associate a Govinda or a Tusshar Kapoor film as a full-on comedy. But it is far from true in the case of 'Life Partner'. Instead, it has got dollops of emotions and drama to it even though comedy is a thread that binds the characters together," said a close associate of Rumi Jaffery, the director of the film.
He also revealed the film's storyline and said that marriage was the main issue.
"Each of them has a different view about marriage," the source said on condition of anonymity.
"Tusshar is a simple young man who is a believer in arranged marriages. Fardeen is a flamboyant personality for whom love marriage means everything. As for Govinda, he is a Casanova of sorts and doesn't believe in marriage at all," he added.
Even though the trio has distinct views about marriage, Govinda, Tusshar and Fardeen play thick friends in the film that has been shot extensively in South Africa.
Tusshar Kapoor, who was last seen in comic hit "Golmaal Returns", also said "Life Partner" is not one of the laugh riots he is usually associated with.
"'Life Partner' is not one of those comedies about mistaken identity or a movie belonging to the 'No Entry' genre. Here the characters share different viewpoints about love and marriage. There is a lot that everyone learns from each other though," said Tusshar.
Though he isn't willing to reveal much about his role in the film, he says there is a sense of reality in the way characters are defined in the movie.
"What you would see in 'Life Partner' is something that happens to every husband and wife," the actor said.
"A wife may think that her husband is no more the kind of boyfriend he used to be before marriage. On the other hand a guy may be stuck between his parents and his wife. The film shows these characters going through such trials and tribulations," Tusshar explained.
In the film, Tusshar plays a Gujarati based in South Africa while Prachi Desai plays his Gujarati wife who originally comes from India. Genelia D'Souza is paired opposite Fardeen Khan while there is a surprise element around the actress being paired with Govinda.
The film was originally slated to arrive May 1 but has been pushed for close to a couple of months due to the ongoing producers versus multiplexes tussle over revenue-sharing.
An Abbas-Mustan production with music by Pritam, "Life Partner", in all likelihood, would now be releasing in July.
