'Gattu' to open Goa's Children's Film Festival
May 5, 2012 IANS"Gattu" deals with children's aspirations in the face of adversity. It had won a special mention at the 62nd Berlinale for capturing the ironies, the complexities and the vitality of India.
The four-day 2012 Children's Film Festival is in its third edition in Goa, which is already the permanent venue for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), held in November-December annually.
This year's fest for kids will also feature a selection of films like Shyam Benegal's "Charandas Chor" and international movies like "Kung Fu Panda II", "Sunshine Barry and the Disco Worms", said a statement from the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), which is hosting the festival.
"It's going to be more than a film festival. We are having a lot of fringe activities like a watermelon eating contest, considering it is summer tie, face painting, magic shows on site," said an ESG spokesperson.
