'Force' scores over other films at box office
Oct 4, 2011 IANSThe film earned Rs.5 crore Friday, Rs.4.75 crore Saturday and approximately Rs.6.25 crore Sunday. "Force" is said to be John's biggest opening as a solo lead.
"The film has opened very well and is appealing to the masses. It has done very well in Meerut, Ghaziabad and other smaller cities. It is appealing to young students specially. They are appreciating it because of its stunts and action. It is a different film. It has been John's biggest solo release," Tushar Dhingra, COO, Big Cinemas told IANS.
John has tried to prove his versatility as an actor by doing different roles in his eight-year-long career and has been successful in his attempts. With director Nishikanth Kamath's "Force", the actor tries to get into the hardcore action genre and is once again successful.
"Force" is a remake of Gautham Menon's successful 2003 Tamil film "Kaakha Kaakha". John has performed stunts without the protective cables for his role. He not only lifts a bike of 150 kg but also jumps from 150 ft height on an air bag without using any cables. He took special training for his role.
Apart from "Force", the other films that hit the silver screen were Sagar Ballary's "Hum Tum Shabana", "Tere Mere Phere" and "Chargesheet". All these films saw a dull opening.
"The response to 'Force' has been pretty good. We have had 75 percent to 80 percent occupancy. People are appreciating the film. The response to this film is much better than other films that released alongside," said Munish Sharma, of Satyam Cinemas.
Puneet Sahay, of Spice Cinemas adds: "While 'Force' has done good business, 'Hum Tum Shabana' and 'Tere Mere Phere' saw an opening of merely 20 percent to 25 percent. People are liking 'Force'."
Up next for release is David Dhawan's "Rascals".
