Mumbai, Jan 22 (IANS) Priyanka Chopra has seven husbands in forthcoming "7 Khoon Maaf" and the song "Darrling", which has already created a buzz on music channels, is for her Russian husband and aptly adapted from popular Russian folk song "Kalinka", says director-composer Vishal Bhardwaj.

"One husband in this film is a Russian who comes from an army background. So I was looking for a typical Russian song for that husband which Priyanka would sing in the film to impress him," Bhardwaj told reporters here.

"'Kalinka' is the most famous Russian folk song and has been used in more than 15 films. All the World War II films. If you see, where Russia is involved, this song is bound to be there. It is actually the most used and abused song," the 50-year-old said.

"It goes with my film, so I wanted to keep it. Unnecessarily some people were trying to say that we stole it but I have nothing to hide. I have based my song on that song and there is nothing wrong with that," said Bhardwaj, who has made films like "Maqbool", "Omkara" and "Kaminey".

The filmmaker said due credit would be given to the original choir in the music CD.

"7 Khoon Maaf" is based on Ruskin Bond's short story "Susanna's Seven Husbands", where a woman marries seven guys and ends up killing all of them. The film stars Priyanka Chopra in the lead along with Neil Nitin Mukesh, Naseeruddin Shah, John Abraham, Irrfan Khan, Annu Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah's youngest son Vivaan Shah and Russian actor Aleksandr Dyachenko.

The film is slated for release Feb 18. Click the Movie button below for more info:
