Arshad still gets 'jadoo ki jhappi' from Sanjay
May 17, 2006 Manissha DespaandeThe two have come a long way since they developed a terrific rapport while working together in "Munnabhai M.B.B.S", reports Bollywood Trade.
"Sanjay is a gem of a person. He has no ego problems and both of us let off our guard while working with each other. We don't even care if either of us has the better lot of scenes and dialogues. We enjoy spontaneous chemistry.
"In fact, director Rajkumar Hirani once told us that he was amazed by the weird chemistry we share on screen. We don't need dialogues and pre-written scenes, we can just go on and on with our great chemistry. It was as if we have been friends for ages."
Sanjay signed Nikhil Panchamiya's "Anthony Kaun Hai" for Arshad's sake.
"I simply told Sanju that I needed a favour from him for a producer friend. I told him about the film and he agreed without even reading the script. Sanju is among those few large-hearted actors, who goes out of his way to help a friend in need."
In the film, the two will be seen doing a complete turnaround from their "Munnabhai" roles.
"In 'Munnabhai' we couldn't live without each other but in this film I am constantly running away from Sanju trying to save my life while he keeps attempting to eliminate me," said Arshad.
One of the most difficult scenes in the film, which Arshad cannot forget, is the way he was suspended from a 35-storeyed building in Bangkok.
"It was as if I was hanging between life and death. The stuntman would carry me to the top floor and hold my hand till the camera would go on. The moment it was on, he would let go off my hand while I balanced myself on one hand. It sent shivers down my spine but I prayed to god and held on."
What was heartening though was the way Sanjay would go and embrace him the moment the shot was over, giving him all the reassurance in the world.
"It was as if he was trying to tell me, don't worry buddy, nothing can happen to you as long as I am there."
Apart from "Anthony Kaun Hai", the Arshad-Sanjay duo will also be seen in "Life Ho To Aisi" and "Munnabhai 2nd Innings".
