Animated films have a good future here: Jaaved Jafferi
May 24, 2012 IANS"This mentality that Indians have that animated films are only for kids is very wrong. Animated films are high-grossing films at the box-office, be it 'The Incredibles', 'Jungle Book' series, 'The Lion King', all animated films are top-grossers at the box office. I don't see why not, why can't it happen here," the 48-year-old told reporters Wednesday at the screening of the film.
Directed by Arnab Chaudhuri, "Arjun: The Warrior Prince" hit theatres Friday.
Talking about how budget affects a film's success, Jaaved said: "A film is either good or bad. If it is good it will work, like 'Paan Singh Tomar' or 'Kahaani'. At the same time, some big budget films don't work, like 'Tezz'. So, it all depends on what the public likes and this is a classic story."
Actress Mandira Bedi believes such films teach the new generation about India's culture.
"I am happy a film has been made on such a big superhero. Today, our kids are growing up on western concepts and western culture. But here an animated film has been made which will promote Indian culture," the 40-year-old said here.
"I became a mother recently and next year I will come with my kid to watch a film like this. I am really happy that such films are being made that promote our culture," she added.
