'Alag' not similar to 'Krrish', says photographer Subi Samuel

New Delhi, April 22 (IANS) Bollywood's ace photographer Subi Samuel is not happy with comparisons made between his debut production "Alag" and Rakesh Roshan's "Krrish".

"It's an honour for me that people are talking about 'Krissh' and 'Alag' in the same breath. Having said that, it is not fair to me or Mr. Rakesh Roshan," Subi told IANS.

"Let me tell you 'Alag' is not at all similar to 'Krrish'. Maybe because of the genre people are comparing it, but 'Krrish' talks about the super power of a boy who uses it to help people and my film shows the emotional side of a boy who is unhappy with his atypical characteristics," said Subi.

"Alag", starring Akshay Kapoor and Diya Mirza, is a sci-fi film in terms of genre. It shows the dilemma of a boy shunned by society because of his unnatural powers.

"It's just a forward movement in films. Predominantly my photography has been related to films and film personalities so I have taken a step forward with the film," he said.

When asked if he would direct a film in the near future, Subi said: "Yes, I will venture into directing. Probably it would be a love story and mainly deal with human emotions because I enjoy doing it the most."

Subi, known to be innovative and experimental with looks, has decided to present protagonist Akshay, earlier seen in "Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao", without hair in the film.

"I chose Akshay Kapoor because this film demanded a youngster who doesn't have a set image in the industry. He has no hair in the film. It goes with the story. When you see the film you would think that it suits his character."

Diya, who has almost disappeared from the film firmament after delivering box office duds "Fight Club", "Koi Mere Dil Mein Hai" and "Tumsa Nahin Dekha" is playing a psychiatrist and Akshay's love interest in the film.

Subi is confident about her. "Diya is probably playing one of the best roles of her career."

One of the most sought after photographers in Bollywood, Subi has no favourites but says he enjoys working with Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu and Esha Deol.

"If I have a personal rapport with my stars, I have a better shooting time and it makes the whole experience pleasurable."

Talking about his celebrity status he said: "I personally don't consider myself a celebrity. I am lucky I am blessed with success because there are far more talented, well equipped people there."

Directed by Ashu Trikha, the film is schedule to hit the screens on May 19.
