Activists disrupt KANK show in Ujjain

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh), Aug 23 (IANS) Bharatiya Janshakti (BJ) party workers barged into a cinema hall in Ujjain Wednesday and tried to stop the screening of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna" (KANK).

Demanding an apology from Shah Rukh Khan, a group of 50 party workers reached the Nirmal-Sagar cinema hall here, tore posters and smashed windowpanes.

The protesters were angry with the superstar for his comments on the alleged presence of pesticide in soft drinks. The superstar, who endorses one such drink, reportedly said that these days pesticides were found even in mother's milk.

"The show was disrupted for about an half an hour," police said.

This is the second such attempt reported from Madhya Pradesh. Three days ago BJP workers gathered near Regal Cinema in the state's commercial capital Indore and tore posters. Police prevented their entry into the cinema hall.

The party workers had held similar protests Aug 12 and said they would not allow Khan's films to be screened if he does not apologise within 10 days.
