There have been a number of gangster films that are being made in the Kannada film industry these days. It has become a fashionable trend for the producers to claim that they are making a gangster film which is based on some real life incidents in the underworld. Nanda Nanditha is one more addition to the list of many gangster films that are hitting the screen.

Before writing the review of the film, I want to record some thing that lingers in my mind. Kannada films had made a name for making films of quality and there are many leading directors and actors who are highly respected in the Indian film industry. The huge impact of the success of films like Mungaru Male and Duniya had made even the veterans of the non Kannada film industries to take note of the achievements. With such background it is surprising that every other producer and director wants to make gangster films taking a leaf out of a few successful films like OM, Shashtri, Daasa, Duniya, Jogi and others. What is the use of making gangster films again and again just because it appeals to the section of audience? And all these films which invariably carry A certificate tags from Censors have a high dose of violence and a little bit of love element just thrown in. Nanda Nanditha is another film where a boy from a slum takes on the sword to kill people and accepts orders to eliminate unknown people. And you show him enjoying a good life with his designer clothes and costliest cooling glasses. And what is the message you are passing on to the unsuspecting and not so fortunate teenagers who are still unemployed.

Nanda Nanditha has a few plus points. Director Vijayakumar has ensured that the narration is fast paced which can engage the audience. And Emil's music is the trump card of the film. The one hit song Jinkemareena has the capabilities to bring the repeat audience to the theatres. And the film's hero Yogeesh is another attraction His natural dialogue delivery, dancing style has some appealing effect. He had earlier acted in the role of Lose Mada in the film Duniya directed by Soori. Yogeesh's physique and body language just fits in perfectly to the role of Nanda he has played in Nanda Nanditha which has introduced him as the hero. Dialogue writer Manju Mandavya has also done a good job in his work as many dialogues in the film get lot of wows wows in the theatres.

The first half is engaging, but the second half of the film has many lose ends. It is certain that director Vijayakumar has not worked hard in giving some finer points to the script. He just wants to end the film as an action film with the inclusion of too many fights in the second half. And the film does not have many relief elements in the second half.

Nanda has been thrown out of his house by his father and step mother. Nanda moves out of his house and he is helped by his friend Quarter who runs a finance recovery agency. Nanda becomes a regular member of the finance recovery agency and shows his guile and power to recover money. He meets Nanditha who works in a pickle factory and gets closer to her. And as love blossoms in the couple, Nanda also shows his desire to change. At that time he gets an offer from a big don Dayananda to kill another underworld don turned politician who has contested for corporation elections. Nanda brutally attacks Cat Chandra but this killing is witnessed by Nanditha. But Cat Chandra accidentally survives and wants to take revenge on Nanda. Dayananda is also on the look out for Nanda because he has not finished the assigned work. A frustrated Nanda loses Nanditha who moves away from him and is closely followed by gangsters belonging to two rival groups. And it is best not to reveal the climax.

Yogeesh has not come out of the shadows of his Lose Mada role and just acts the same way. Nanditha passes muster in her role. Avinash is just O.K. Lingenahalli Sureshchandra is natural in the role of the villain.
