There has been an abnormal increase in the number of Kannada films made with the stories centered on the Bangalore Mafia. In all these films the common factor is that there is little bit of some real life incidents thrown into the fictional script and narration in these films will include lot of mayhem and blood shed sequences. And the actor's reputation and standing in the industry are not important factors in such films. With the success of some well made films featuring new faces, it is felt that presence of stars is not important for a success of the film.

'Bhaktha' is one such film which is made with a limited budget but with main focus on violence with sentimental aspects thrown in here and there. But producers should realize that every film will not be in the league of 'Duniya' directed by Soori which had really made the audience sit and take notice of a different type of experience. 'Duniya' took us to a new world and every person connected to the film gave his or her best.

'Bhaktha' director Shriram has worked hard to write a good story for the film and he has executed the climax sequence very well. But the film's main drawback is the performance of Agni, the hero of the film who has proved listless in the role of underworld don Pattar. In the first half of the sequence, Agni shows his emotionless face very often and the sequences are totally lost on impact. Agni is slightly better in the second half, but is still unequal for the big role he plays in the film. Varsha, the heroine of the film has already made a name in her debut film 'Nenapirali''. She is much better than the hero of the film. Most of the artists who are new to celluloid have failed to make any impact.

The first half of 'Bhaktha' is a let down and even director Sriram has not done anything to make the film interesting. The cuts of the Censor Board and lack of coherence in the script makes the film too painful to watch in the first half. But later half it picks up the tempo, but it is too late. Only towards the end, the film looks slightly better. There is nothing to write about the music by Abhiman and Camerawork by Mathew Rajan

'Bhaktha' is just an average film which could have been good but for its many flaws.
