Rakshaka is supposed to be a thrilling drama shot in forests and aimed at providing seat edge suspense and thrill to the fans. But it ends up as another routine film with tortoise movement of the story, jaded scenario and insipid performances from artistes of the film. Though the film was much hyped before its release, there is no fire works in the film and despite the presence of Dialogue King Sai Kumar in his favorite uniform; the film fails to take off at any point. The film, which suffers from a weak script, has no interesting moments and has a yawning narration.

Rakshaka (The protector) is the story of a daring Police officer who rescues a kidnapped child who is the son of a minister. In the process the ACP takes on the might of a forest mafia. The film could have been a real thriller if the script was strong enough to sustain the interest of the viewers. But unfortunately Rakshaka director Mandya Nagaraj who has done some eminently forgettable films like Murder, Thaayiya Runa and Nammoora Ramaayana fails again. The director has not made any attempts to create some exciting sequences in the film. And to think of a forest without animals may surprise you.

A Mafia leader in the forests kidnaps the 10-year-old child of a Minister while the Minister is on a tour to forest. The don demands a ransom of Rs. 10 crores. The Minister cautions the police and according to his instruction ACP Prithvi is deputed to rescue the child. Prithvi succeeds in his mission and kills the don.

Sai Kumar mouths his usual punch dialogues, but the audience have seen such performances him many times before. Except for the villain's role, all the other characters lack substance. The performances of the artists are below par. Mandya Nagaraj's weak script, inept direction and an ordinary music make Rakshaka an avoidable film.
