Soundarya Kannada Movie Review
Talented actor Ramesh Arvind did variety of roles in early part of his career, but in recent days his dear fans had felt that the actor had lost out to commercial compulsions. That was because Ramesh was more into comedy-oriented roles than other type of roles. For a refreshing change, "Soundarya' comes as a relief to his fans. "Soundarya' has Ramesh in his best elements in a serious role. As a Chemical Engineer having a small family, Ramesh proves that he can show his mettle in any type of roles. It is a real surprise packet for his fans.
Director Channagangappa who was a senior level government officer before he drifted to films had earlier made a sensitive love oriented film "Nannaaseya Hoove' with Jaggesh. "Soundarya' is the second film from Channagangappa in which he has based his script on many real life incidents he had encountered during his official duties. Therefore the film's narrative has realistic touch. Director has added some commercial elements to make the film more attractive. Another plus point for the film is that veterans like music director Hamsalekha and Cameraman Giri have given their best shots in the film. Particularly two songs "Hrudayada Maathu Kelu' rendered by Kunal Ganjawala and the title songs are the hall marks of top musical compositions by Hamsalekha. These songs have also been well shot. Giri has been able to capture the beauty of the locales in spectacular fashion.
Channagangappa leaves no one in doubt that he has really progressed as a director. In a way it can be said that Channagangappa has used the best of talents in the technical department to narrate the film.
"Soundarya' tells the story of an upper middle class family of a rich industrialist, his wife and a cute daughter who are unfortunately dragged in the dealings of a land mafia which is on a mission to usurp the government land. While the wife fights against the uncouth realtors, the husband wants to keep away and lead a peaceful life. The mafia creates lot of bottlenecks to threaten the peace in the family. Finally, an enraged husband involves in a criminal action innocently. What happens later and how the family comes out of the entire trauma forms the rest of the story.
The film has blended the commercial elements in this story and the crime angle that is added does not look unnatural. As earlier said it is essentially a film that showcases Ramesh in a serious role and he has done the best. Baby Shreya as the cute daughter in the family looks charming and brings in energy on the screen. But the film's heroine Sakshi Shivanand is a let down. Rahul Dev, Prithwi and Gazar Khan have performed adequately.
"Soundarya' is a film for all the sections of the audience.
