A mix of action, romance and humour, "Polladavan" will hopefully take Dhanush a notch higher in providing mass entertainment. Rajinikanth had acted in a film of the same title.
Dhanush plays Prabhu, a youth from a lower middle class family with dreams and aspirations to come up in life. He strives to achieve something big and eventually succeeds. But soon what he has achieved is taken away from him. How he regains it fighting against odds is the crux of the story.
Divya ("Kuthu" fame Ramya) plays the heroine. She and Dhanush portray what is described as a "cute" love story. Interestingly, Dhanush uses the same car that his father-in-law used in the old version of "Polladavan".
In Dhanush's own words, it is a normal film with an ordinary story. The climax is the film's strength and everyone will get a shock watching it. Every youngster can relate to his character. Debutant director Vettrimaran has given an extra ordinary treatment to the climactic scenes. (Incidentally Vettrimaran had worked as an assistant to cinematographer-director Balu Mahendra.)
The film also features a remix version of yesteryear hit "Engaeyum Eppodum" from the film "Ninaithale Inikkum" featuring Rajini and Kamal Haasan. Santhanam is the main player in the comedy track. Daniel Balaji and Kishore from Kannada cinema are the villains.
The director says "Polladavan" is a commercial cocktail sure to entertain the film buffs. Songs by G.V. Prakash make the package "perfect".
