'Sajini' had become a hot property in the film industry after an announcement was made that Music Maestro A.R.Rahman was composing music for the film. But the release of the film's audio and cassettes recently has dampened the spirit of the Kannada film fans as all the tunes of the songs were lifted from the Tamil film 'Jodi'. In fact the song tunes of 'Jodi' can also be traced to a Hindi film starring Akshaye Khanna-Jyothika film directed by Priyadharshan. Since 'Sajini' was billed as a third generation film (The film's producer and distributors were sons of a well known film distributor R.N.Mandre from Karnataka) as Sharmila Mandre was the grand daughter of a well known film distributor, we can also take solace from this third sound track. But thankfully the lyrics are original and instrumentation has been strengthened as for as the Kannada film songs are concerned.

Sajini also suffers on another count. It has a poor screen play which makes the first half very dull. The second half is interesting though and the film runs in a faster pace. And director Murugesh who is basically from the Tamil film industry also does not make any attempt to get top performance from artists. Except for the films leading lady Sharmila and the veteran artists who have got experience, the film suffers on the acting side. Even the film's hero Dhyan who has so far acted in five Kannada films so far has surprisingly given a very indifferent performance. He fails to show of the right emotions in the sequences. And the dialogues by B.A.Madhu are pedestrian.

Sajini has a story of two lovers who want to take the blessings of their elders before they get married. They do not want to get married without their elders consent. Therefore each of the lovers would decide to interact with the parents of the other spouse to impress them. And finally the film ends on a positive note. The film's first half is completely taken from the Tamil film 'Jodi' while the second half has a right mix of sequences in 'Jodi' and the recent Telugu hit 'Bommarillu'. The film is neither original in its script or its music.

Dhyan has to really improve in the performance side, though he looks very good in song sequences. Sharmila is a surprise packet of the whole film. In the first film she has really done a great work and is bound to go places in the future. Veterans Anant Nag, Bhavya, Avinash, Chitra Shenoy and Shivaram have done their parts well.

Murugesh fails to deliver in his first film. Nothing could be said of the photography.

'Sajini' is good in its second half. It is a family entertainer which could be seen once.
