Nage Habba Kannada Movie
"Nage Habba" means a fun festival. Actor Aadarsh who has been doing variety of roles in has directed this film. Aadarsh had earlier directed his first film "Dumbi" which bombed at the Box office despite getting some good reviews. Nage Habba is the second film of Aadarsh for which the actor-director has taken some freedom in narrating the film with commercial elements.
First thing is that he has shot the songs very well and has even composed music with some rich background score. He has included some of the better known names in the Kannada film industry who have excelled in comedy roles. And there was this Mumbai import Saniya who looks good in the song sequences. But all these commercial elements do not add to make the film attractive, but the film itself gets grounded because of a weak script which falters in the second half.
"Nage Habba" has moments of entertainment and many sequences in the first half will definitely make you laugh. It may look extremely illogical, but nevertheless Aadarsh's intentions to make people laugh at whatever cost has been attained. But it is in the second half that the film falters. The film's story moves in a way to indicate a loss in direction and focus.
The songs will provide some relief in the second half, but it looks as if Aadarsh wants to some how add some emotional dramatic elements in the script, though they do not fit into the story. And there is also an item song though its inclusion is unjustifiable. The climax sequence seems to be inspired from the climax sequence of Bhagyaraj's film "Darling Darling".
The story revolves around a medical student Anjan and his friend. Both of them cheat people to accumulate money for getting admitted to the medical college. Anjan is in love with a girl called Amrutha who has implicit faith in Anjan, though Anjan still continue with his cheating habits. He even cheats a police officer to make some money.
The Police officer uses to settle scores with his senior police officer. Anjan and his friend attack the senior police officer who is in reality is the father of Amrutha. A series of confusions and some sentimental sequences later, Amrutha and Anjan get together.
A simple story, but there are so many twists and turns which make the proceedings interesting. Aadarsh has tried his best to come out good in the comedy role, but his accomplice totally fails in his role.
Performances of comedy artists Sadhu Kokila, Mysore Mallesh, Tennis Krishna and Bank Janardhan have added some pep into the film, though it is not understandable as to why all these veterans shout. New comer Saniya looks good on screen, but has to improve in her acting.
Music is really good and saves the film. "Nage Habba" is a comedy film which is a time pass film. It could have been a better film, if director Aadarsh had taken more interest in getting a good script.
