"Sirivantha" had huge pre-release expectations from the Kannada film industry and it had obtained a high rate of appreciation from the people who had seen it in the pre-release shows.

The special invitees included many top celebrity politicians like former Prime Minister H.D.Deve Gowda and many top Kannada film actors and directors.

The film is a remake of Telugu Hit "Aa Naluguru" which was directed by Chandra Siddarth and had Rajendra Prasad as the hero.

The Kannada version is an outstanding and honest presentation of the Telugu original with a little bit of improvement in the way it has been narrated.

The film also stands out for a brilliant portrayal of the lead character Narayana Murthy by Dr. Vishnuvardhan who is certainly one of the top actors of the country. It is a film that will be another land mark in his three decade career.

Director S.Narayan has been able to get the right notes from all the artists and technicians who have worked for the film. The lighting mood and the background score have been used to interpret the film perfectly on the screen.

"Sirivantha" revolves around the struggles of a news paper editor Narayana Murthy who wages a courageous battle to withstand all pressures to retain the values he has cherished. In the process he is corned by his own children and even his wife entangles him to question about the loyalty to the family. His ideals will remain with him till the end and when he had to face the prospect of sacrificing his ideals, he ends his life.

But ultimately his values are remembered when he dies and thousands of people turn up to witness his last rights.

What is highly impressive about the film is the quality of the script. The hero dies in the very first sequence and he is taken by the kinkaras to the Yamaloka. But he wants to see his last rites and expresses his wish.

Then the real story starts. The film moves in a good pace and many sequences will touch the chords of the viewers. It will be uncontrollable in the last sequence. The film revolves around Dr. Vishnu's character, but yet the characterization of other roles opens up in a very interesting manner. There is no jig saw puzzle in the film despite a very different script and the narration is clear.

Dr. Vishnuvardhan brings out the best in him to portray the character of Narayana Murthy so much that the viewers will forget him and see only the character in the film.

There were never been such a level of high degree performance seen in a Kannada film recently. In a way Dr. Vishnu reminds us of Kannada Movie icon Dr. Raj Kumar's performance in "Jeevana Chaithra" which won him a state award.

Shruthi is the perfect foil to Dr. Vishnu in the film and she matches her best performance seen in films like "Kalki", "Veerappa Nayaka" and "Shruthi". Another scene stealer is Doddanna who takes the cake in the last sequence of the film. Avinash, Srinath fill the bill effectively. Though Veteran actor K.S.Aswath is seen in one sequence, he has performed to his best.

Director S.Narayan has shown very well that the film's medium is that of a director. His dialogues and lyrics are meaningful and message oriented. P.K.H.Doss's photography is another highlight of the film.

Music Director S.A.Rajakumar's music compositions of two pathos songs "Yaaro Yaaro" and "Badiyithu Sidilu" are outstanding. The "Megha Megha" song which had become highly popular in the album is however not seen in the film. Soundarrajan's crisp editing work is another plus point of the film.

"Sirivantha" is one unforgettable film which is a must see for all the Kannada film goers who is longing for a high quality film. For Dr. Vishnuvardhan's fans it will certainly be a land mark film.
