Nee Venunda Chellam Tamil Movie
AP Film Garden’s Nee Venunda Chellam is a Romantic action film intended more at propping up the career of hero Ramesh. Whether it has achieved its objective is a big question mark.
Kannan is a dutiful and loving son of Nizhalgal Ravi, who runs a multiplex store. He is much sought after by the girls. He falls for Geetha, a charming girl in his friend’s locality. Without identifying himself he helps her in various ways. Geetha too without knowing his identity falls for the man who has helped her.
Geetha’s father, Vishwanathan is a wily Government servant who is in the process of getting his voluntary retirement. He is in the habit of using unfair and tricky means to settle scores with anybody against whom he has a grudge. He feels offended by the act of Kannan in a freak incident in a hotel. So when he comes to know that Kannan is in love with his daughter, he plans to take revenge on him. Vishwanathan, diverts the love letter, sent by Kannan to Anjali, whom the dreaded local don, Ashok is planning to marry.
This sets off a series of events, where Anjali falls madly in love with Kannan and there is a heavy clash between Kannan and Ashok’s men. In the melee, the lovers meet, but are unable to be united through the continuous scheming ways of Vishwanathan and the arrogance of Ashok. How the lovers unite against the backdrop of intense clashes and dramatic turn of events form the final narrative.
Ramesh as Kannan, seems to be improving with each movie, but whether he will be able to sway the audience on his own charisma, is a point to be dwelt at length. He seems to be doing well in all dances and fight sequences. Gajala as Geetha is charming and soft. Namitha, as Anjali as usual oozes with glamour all through. Vivek’s comedy initially produces good laughter, but fades away in the second half.
Thilakan as Vishwanathan has portrayed a good role once again. It is a novel and innovative character created with care by the Director. But in the later stages, the character seems to lose color and wither away.
With a good storyline on hand (as per the current standards), the Director has failed to capitalize on it with a tight screenplay and engrossing narration. The narration is very mediocre and the lackluster proceedings of the second half are definitely a blot on the overall film.
The music by Dheena is good in patches with some peppy numbers. The fights directed by Thalapathi Dinesh are noteworthy with some good freeze shots.
For all the efforts put in by Ramesh and with this storyline, it could have been a real entertainer and a commercial hit, had the Director been more focused and creative.
