Lanka Malayalam Movie

This film has been rated 2/5 not because there is any thing in the film to make it deserving of even that, but because of the sheer guts Suresh Gopi showed to do a role like this. Mamta Mohandas also displayed a lot of guts, apart from a few other things. She’s sure to gain a sizeable fan-following after her sleazy performance. AK Sajan, who did the Direction, Story, Screenplay and Dialogue for the film has ensured at least that.

Suresh Gopi plays ‘Sraavan’, the main character of this movie, who was a naval commander with the Indian Peace Keeping Force sent to Sri Lanka. He stays on in the country after completion of the assignment. He leads the life of a Casanova, drinking and womanizing, and publicly acknowledging it. The director has taken care to build up the character of Sraavan by giving us minute hints through the other characters around him rather than through any direct portrayal. Sraavan eventually meets up with Lanka Lakshmi. A torrid affair ensues until ….

Before winding off this piece, this reviewer would like to ask the Director a few questions:

What role does the train play in the movie?

Where does Sraavan get his daughter from?

Who was his wife, who ditched him to elope with a younger guy?

Why does the heroine speak Tamil or Sinhalese to the hero and to her friends, but Malayalam to the hero's friends?

How does Bekkal Fort of Kasargode come in Sri Lanka?

Does Sajan have any previous enmity with the producer?

Viewers are welcome to add their own questions, but don’t make the mistake of going for the movie just to add to the questions.
