For long he was slapped around, mocked at and made to do funny faces. He did it without complain. As a comedian it’s his job. And he regaled the audience with his mannerisms and by delivering cheeky dialogs with comic expressions. This he did sincerely and carved a niche for himself as a top comedian. We are talking about Sunil, the comedian whose sheer presence transforms a dull scene in to a side splitting one.

There was always an aura of credibility about him as he went about doing personally demeaning yet professionally demanding acting. His diligence, talent, humbleness, and confidence finally paid off to win him a hero’s role in Andala Ramudu. “Yes, he is the hero”, claimed the posters of the movie to emphasize the filmmakers’ confidence in him. But bagging a leading role is nothing compared to the expectations of the director, producer as well as the fans to deliver when it comes to performance and doing justice to the role conferred.

The big question was could he pull it off as a hero?

Surprise, surprise and sheer surprise – Sunil delivers much more than what’s expected of him in a lead role. Andala Ramudu has not only opened to packed houses, but also is making people buy tickets in black. Fans cutting across their super star fans association affiliations are flocking the theatres to watch Andala Ramudu. Just after two shows the word has spread that “Sunil is rocking in Andala Ramudu”.

Admittedly, Sunil doesn’t have the good looks to be a hero. He has a dark complexion, an overweight body that’s out of shape and there is no way you can say that he is good looking. Yet, riding high on the confidence reposed on him by the filmmakers he makes a point – looks are immaterial, talent is what matters.

He is bringing the theatres down with his dance, comedy and histrionics in Andala Ramudu. If the youngsters are marveling at his dance steps, the grown ups are getting emotional with his unique and flawless acting. One thing that permeates the entire movie is his sincerity and the oodles of confidence that he possesses.

Thanks to the presenter of the movie Y B Chowdhury who’s Mega Super Good Films has taken the bold step in taking a comedian as a hero. Like an experienced jeweler he has been right in picking up a gem of an actor. Director P Laxmi Narayana needs to be praised for his excellent story telling ability. There never is a dull moment in the movie Andala Ramudu. Add to that, super dances, high quality photography and a picturesque village as backdrop – you have a thoroughly enjoyable movie that heralds the graduation ceremony of Sunil as a hero.
